BBB Debates: Aaron Judge in the Leadoff spot

With Opening Day just six days away at this point, the Yankees 25-man roster is coming clearer into focus.  What may not be clear, just yet, is the batting order that Aaron Boone will roll out next Thursday when the Yankees take the field against J.A. Happ and the rival Toronto Blue Jays. Today, Boone may have peeled back the curtain a bit into what exactly he might be planning.

In a few minutes, the Yankees will take the field against the Boston Red Sox in one of their final games of the 2018 Spring Training season (TV: YES, ESPN).  You may have noticed already, but Boone is batting 2017 American League MVP Runner-Up and 2017 American League Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge in the leadoff spot today versus Boston left-hander Brian Johnson. Masahiro Tanaka hits the 10-day DL, Gallegos up

The injury bug strikes again for the Yanks with Masahiro Tanaka heading to the 10-day DL with shoulder inflammation. This is the second starter in the rotation to go down this week, with CC Sabathia going down with right knee soreness and also being placed on the 10-day DL. Now, with Tanaka down, there’s a hole that needs to be filled in the rotation. After starting the season rather poorly, Tanaka has been getting back to his “Ace” type ways. Over his last four starts he’s given up eight earned over 24 innings pitched, while also striking out 31.

The coinciding move that was made with Tanaka hitting the DL was the promotion of Giovanny Gallegos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Currently at the major league level Gallegos has pitched in nine games, boasting a 7.15 ERA through 11.1 IP, while also striking out 11.
