Poor pitching spoils a big offensive night as the Yankees drop rubber-match in Texas

A rough night for Yankees pitching spoiled another offensive outburst, as the Rangers picked up a 12-10 win on Wednesday night in Arlington. Wednesday also marks the first time that the Yankees have lost a series since they lost two out of three against the Red Sox at Fenway in early April. Despite the loss, the offense continues to roll. The Yankees totaled 14 hits and four home runs in the losing effort.

Tommy Kahnle to 10-day DL, Luis Cessa recalled

Prior to the series finale against the Marlins, the Yankees have placed Tommy Kahnle on the 10-day DL with right shoulder tendonitis. In response, the Yanks recalled right-handed journeyman Luis Cessa back up from Triple-A.

Kahnle had been struggling lately and overall this season including a noticed drop in velocity, which is now explained. In six outings accumulating 7.1 innings, the righty has a 6.14 ERA while giving up eight walks. His WHIP of 1.64 has concerned Yankee fans and the reason of his struggles has now came out.  Hopefully just a minor injury, Kahnle’s presence will certainly be missed in the already struggling bullpen. Cessa’s appeared in two outings in 2018 so far, not allowing a base runner across two innings.

Per Aaron Boone, Kahnle's initial test results came back clean so the team thinks this will be a short DL stint where hopefully just rest will get Kahnle back to form.
