Yankees agree to deal with J.A. Happ

Per Mark Feinsand, the Yankees have an agreement to bring back LHP J.A. Happ. The deal is for two years guaranteed with a vesting option for a third year. It will guarantee Happ $34M over the first two years, but that number could increase if a buyout is included on the third year option.

Yankees acquire Cody Asche from the Royals

Earlier today it was announced that the Yankees acquired Cody Asche from the Royals in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

Asche has experience playing third base, outfield, and has two career appearances at first base. He is a career .234/.293/.376 hitter in 1238 at-bats over a course of five seasons with the Phillies and White Sox.

This move is most likely a depth move, due to the massive injury bug that has affected the Yankees so far, this season. Expect the 27-year-old to report to Scranton or possibly replace Miguel Andújar on the major league roster, if the Yankees still want him to get every day at-bats in Triple-A.
