With this being said, there is a lot to discuss and speculate, and here are a handful of our writers' takes on what happened in 2019 and what may go down in the 2019-2020 offseason as the Yankees strive to finally get back to the Fall Classic for the first time since 2009.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Aroldis Chapman has reworked his contract with the Yankees, adding an extra year at $18 million to the two years, $30 million he already had, keeping him in New York until 2022.

Chapman had an excellent 2019, posting 37 saves with a 2.21 ERA, good enough to win him AL Reliever of the Year honors. This deal keeps together a Yankees bullpen that is among the very best in the major leagues, and ensures Zack Britton, Chad Green, Tommy Kahnle and others will not deviate largely from their 2019 roles.
